Music and movement based group
Our Music Beat Therapy Services team has launched a 6 week pilot program is month called “Move to the Music!”
This is a music and movement -based group, focusing on sensorimotor and functional movement.
Designed and facilitated by final year Occupational Therapy Students, as well as a Music Therapy Student who are currently on placement with Music Beat, ‘Move to the Music’ is a program for children aged 9 – 15 with multiple abilities.
This is a small six week pilot program with numbers to be capped at 10 participants, along with their support person(s) as appropriate.
We’re trialing the program to explore how music therapy can be complementary with other therapy approaches such as occupational therapy.
The combination of music therapy and occupational therapy can be one way we can address the increasing need for support around regulation, using music as a means for sensorimotor input regulation.
Music Beat Australia is proud to be supporting the professional development of our future therapists, as part of our ethos of ‘developing every day’ to match the needs of the families and communities we work with.
