Lucia is a Registered Music Therapist and Music Beat Therapy Services’ Team Leader for wellbeing and mental fitness.
Lucia graduated with a tertiary Music Therapy degree in 2007 in Germany (equivalent to an AQF Bachelor’s degree) and has been an Australian Registered Music Therapist (RMT) since 2010. She also holds a Certificate III in Children’s Services and has also previously managed her own Family Day Care business. She recently completed her institute training as Neurologic Music Therapist (NMT).
Lucia’s music therapy training is predominantly based on a client-centred and psychodynamic approach. This often involves Music Therapy techniques where transformation happens when a client discovers something new with the therapist within a creative process and often through improvisation. Lucia has a special interest in sharing her expertise around concepts that focus on early parent-child-relationships, attachment theory, circle of security and reflective parenting.
Lucia has worked with young children to senior adults across various settings – including supporting children, adolescents, and adults in three different Mental Health Clinics, patients with neurologic conditions in a Neurorehabilitation and Parkinson’s disease clinic, and group programs in Special Schools.
Over past 10 years, she has had her own private practice and worked in different community settings, particularly in the disability sector and in early childhood intervention.
Coming from a multicultural background and raising two ever so awe-inspiring girls herself, her interest and knowledge around cultural competence, Women’s Health and Neonatal Care has immensely grown over the past decade.
She is passionate about supporting every person by meeting them where there at and going on a journey to discover and build their strengths, abilities and potential.
